Volunteer Opportunities

Here at MCC we value everyone, especially our wonderful volunteers.

If you would like to explore how you may too join the team of volunteers, we would love to hear from you.

Hear are just a few of opportunities we have at the moment:

  • Side Gate Cafe Volunteer - for cooking, service, barista

You can complete an Expression of Interest form HERE or contact us today to learn more details!

Please note that all staff and volunteers are required to hold a current DHS Check - working with children and vulnerable adults.

Volunteer Position information

Our Side Gate Cafe is a community cafe that offers, 'home cooked' style foods that we all love to eat. The meals, snacks and drinks are all at a low cost so that price is not a barrier to anyone who would like to connect in and share in good food and conversation. Lots of people use it as a meeting place and grab a great coffee at just $3.60.

We can only offer such a service by the generosity of valuable volunteers. These wonderful volunteers that currently work in our Cafe are priceless and do an amazing job, whilst having fun, learning skills and gaining a sense of worth and purpose.

If you would like to join this team, we would love for you to contact us.

As a cook, we are looking for people with good food skills, safe food practice, and a passion for cooking. You would be under the guidance and direction of our Cafe Manager. Hands on training is available, but cooking experience (even only at home) is a must.

Please contact the church office on 8277 7388 or email admin@marioncc.org.au for further details.

Are you a keen gardener, that takes great joy in having a neat and tidy garden area? Do you have time to give on a regular basis? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then we would be delighted to hear from you!

Our property is one that is used regularly by a lot of community members and we strive to keep it a safe and pleasant environment for people as they come and go. We have some gum trees that love to shed their leaves, some occasional lawn mowing, the inevitable weeding, trimming and tidying up of plants, garden beds and car park.

If you love the outdoors, are interested in sharing your passion for gardening with us, please give us a call on 08 8277 7388 or email us at admin@marioncc.org.au.

PROGRAMS for Mums (MOPS & MUMSnext)

At MOPS we believe that better mums make a better world. We also believe that being a mum is probably the most important job there is - you are raising a human being! Our focus of both groups is to provide a consistent space of support, encouragement, insight and love for mothers of all walks of life. Let's join in this journey together and help each other to be the best mums we can be!

Alternating each Monday of school term, MOPS & MUMSnext meets at Marion Church of Christ**

Contact our Office or connect to our MOPS Marion Facebook page (click on the tab - Related Website to be taken directly to the MOPS Marion Facebook page)

for all up to date information, session dates and general information about both groups

MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers)

9.30am-11.30am (fortnightly – even weeks)

MOPS is for uniquely tailored for Mums with young children (pregnancy-6 years). Mums are welcome to come just as they are to make friends, enjoy time out from kids, have fun, and gain the confidence to reach their full potential as Mums. Children are lovingly cared for in the MOPSkids program by accredited volunteer carers. This allows Mums to relax and enjoy a morning of connecting together over tea & coffee, morning tea, group discussions, craft and wonderful support from our Mentor Mums.

MOPS Fees

$5 per session/$25 per term (EFTPOS available) - first session is free

MUMSnext

9am-11am (fortnightly – odd weeks)

MUMSnext is the continuation of MOPS for Mums who no longer have pre-school aged children or predominantly have school-aged children. As our children grow it doesn’t get easier, but it does change. MUMSnext recognises this change and offers continued support, encouragement and connection for Mums through all stages of motherhood.

Discussions at MUMSnext are tailored to children of older ages and Mums with both school-aged children and pre-schoolers are also welcome to attend. Although there is no MOPSkids program, younger children can play under the supervision of their parent while the MUMSnext meeting happens in the same room. MUMSnext is a casual BYO arrangement for Coffee & Tea. Drinks can also be purchased from Side-Gate Cafe on site.

MUMSnext Fees

$15 per term (EFTPOS available) **Free for MOPS mums (when fully paid for MOPS term) - first session is free
